Appeal filed against of Afgan Sadygov' arrest
The family of Afgan Sadygov arrested in Tbilisi is concerned about his fate, as he has never called his relatives since his arrest. This was stated by his wife Sevinj Sadygova to Turan.
In turn, Sadygov's lawyer Dmitriy Nozadze told Turan that he met with him in the detention centre. According to him, Sadygov asked the Georgian migration authorities for assistance in providing him with international protection.
The lawyer also submitted an appeal against the arrest today.
As for the impossibility of telephone conversation and visits with relatives, these rights will be ensured after his arrest documents' finalization, the lawyer said.
Recall that the founder of "Azel. TV" founder Afgan Sadygov was detained in Tbilisi on 3 August at the request of the Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan.
On 4 August, the court arrested him for two months for extradition to Azerbaijan, where a criminal case on charges of extortion was initiated against him.
Sadygov denies the charges and believes that the criminal case against him has been fabricated to punish him for criticizing the authorities.
Sadygov has previously been prosecuted twice in Azerbaijan and twice sentenced to imprisonment. Both times he was recognized by human rights activists as a political prisoner.
