Appointment of Bakhtiar Ersay is confirmation of Azerbaijani–Turkish military alliance
Baku/12.12.22 /Turan: The appointment of Turkish General Bakhtiar Ersay as an adviser to the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan is another evidence of raising Azerbaijani–Turkish military cooperation to a new level. This opinion was expressed by political scientist Shahin Jafarli in an interview with a Turan correspondent.
To his thinking, the joint military exercises, coordination of interaction between the armed forces of the two countries and other steps of Baku and Ankara are aimed at conducting joint military operations by the armies of Azerbaijan and Turkey, if necessary.
The last military exercises of the two countries on the border with Iran in early December coincided with the aggressive behavior of the Iranian leadership towards Azerbaijan and the actions of Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh.
Recall that General Bakhtiyar Ersay as the head of the Operational Directorate of the Turkish Ground Forces, has already advised the leadership of Azerbaijan on military issues. It is no secret that he played a special role in the planning of military operations in the 44-day second Karabakh war.
It was in the reviewed period that Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, Najmeddin Sadigov, and his inner circle were suspended. After that, Ersay and other Turkish officers provided assistance to Azerbaijani officers.
After the end of the war, Ersay was appointed commander of the Operational Group of the Turkish Armed Forces in Azerbaijan. This group was created with the aim of reorganizing the Azerbaijani army and conducting joint exercises. This group is present in Azerbaijan on a permanent basis.
It is no secret that Azerbaijan has announced the reorganization of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces according to the standards of Turkey (NATO). Apparently, it is Ersay who will be responsible for the implementation of this task from the Turkish side. At the same time, he remains the commander of the 7th Corps of the Turkish Armed Forces stationed in Diyarbakir, Jafarli noted. -0-
