Approximately One Hundred Activists Detained or Arrested on Eve of October 19 Rally - PFPA
Baku /20.10.19 / Turan: In the days leading up to the opposition rally on October 19, 94 activists were arrested in an administrative and criminal order, the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan reported on Sunday.
11 PFPA activists, including prominent figures of Seymour Hazy, Ilham Huseyn and Emil Salim, were arrested under administrative orders for periods of 15 to 60 days.
By the time of the rally on October 19, three more detained on on October 8 were under administrative arrest.
In addition, a criminal charge under Art. 234.2 (drug trafficking) of the Criminal Code was brought against the PFPA activist Pasha Umudov.
The remaining activists were subjected to short-term detentions and warned about the inadmissibility of participating in the rally.
The list of those detained and arrested for participating in the rally on October 19 is being specified.
Among the arrested, there is Tofig Yagublu, a member of the coordination center of the National Council of Democratic Forces. He was arrested for 30 days. Companions fear that he was also subjected to physical violence, as well as the PFPA leader Ali Karimli. -02D-
