April 4 is declared the International Day of Human Rights

From now 4 April will be celebrated as the International Day of Human Rights of Defenders. The decision was taken today at a forum held in Stockholm by 120 human rights defenders working in areas of particular risk, hosted by well-known organization Civil Rights Defenders. The meeting will be attended by the representatives of Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Human Rights House Foundation, FIDE, Freedom House, Frontline Defenders. 

The day April 4 was chosen because on that day a prominent American priest and human rights activist Martin Luther King was killed, Turan was told by a  member of the forum in Stockholm called "Days of human rights defenders," the head of the Human Rights Club, Rasul Jafarov.  

Every year on April 4th the prize will be awarded to human rights defenders. The first winner was the Serbian human rights activist, Natasha Kandic. The forum involved and the special representative of the UN Human Rights Margaret Sekagya. Solidarity with human rights defenders at the ceremony expressed as the winner of Eurovision 2012 Lorin and another Swedish singer, Ane Brun.

In addition  to Jafarov were invited the head of the NGO "Democratic monitor", Fuad Hasanov and coordinator of the Human Rights House Azerbaijan, Shahla Ismail. The awards ceremony also attended  by the  blogger Emin Milli  who will arrive from Berlin  and Habib Muntazir.—06B-
