Armenia is trying to become a bridge between Europe and Iran
Baku/30.01.19/Turan: European Commissioner for Enlargement, Johannes Hahn, arrived in Yerevan on January 29. At a meeting with Prime Minister Pashinyan, he discussed the expansion of economic cooperation, in particular in the areas of infrastructure, education and energy.
According to Lragir, the EU allocated 800 million euros to Armenia in the framework of the Eastern Partnership for the development of infrastructures for 10 years. These funds will be used to build the North-South road connecting Iran and Georgia through Armenia.
On the same day, the Deputy Minister of Energy of Iran visited Armenia, with whom they discussed the possibility of expanding the gas-for-electricity program and the construction of the third Armenia-Iran high-voltage line.
On the same day, Nikol Pashinyan said in an interview with RBC that Armenia is interested in laying a transit pipeline.
Apparently, Moscow followed all these actions, and on January 29-30, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Grigory Karasin visited Yerevan. According to the official report, he discussed with the Armenian leadership trade and economic issues, cooperation within the framework of the EAEU and the CSTO. "Special attention was paid to the issue of security and stability in the Transcaucasian region, including the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
Meanwhile, Nikol Pashinyan made an official visit to Germany, where he will had talks with Angela Merkel. -02D-
