Armenia uses humanitarian activities involving the ICRC in order to achieve military advantage
Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry said the use of humanitarian activities under the supervision of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) by Armenia to achieve a military advantage on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border.
According to the report the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry released August 10, the ICRC office in Yerevan appealed to Azerbaijan with a request to ensure compliance with the cease-fire during the humanitarian activities under the supervision of its employees in the Armenian villages near the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
Azerbaijan is sympathetic to the creation of conditions for the ICRC in carrying out humanitarian activities subject to international law and humanitarian law, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported. However, Armenia is trying to abuse the conditions created to support the activities of the ICRC staff in Yerevan. "During the regular humanitarian activities initiated by the ICRC, the Armenians, using tractors and other civilian equipment, to redeploy combat armored vehicles, were trying to take a favorable position near the village of Movses. After that, members of the Armed Forces of Armenia held under intense shelling the villages of Agdam and Alibeili in the Tovuz region. As a result of violations of the cease-fire by the Armenian side on July 25 were wounded two civilians in the Alibeili village, and the state of one of them is characterized as serious. The incident was immediately officially reported to the ICRC," then said the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan.
In view of the above, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said that the armed forces of Azerbaijan will not allow any more operations in Armenia under the guise of humanitarian activities in order to reach the position of military advantage, and such attempts should be vigorously combated.
Recall that on the first days of August the shelling by Armenia wounded 5 Azerbaijani civilians.
Yesterday one Azerbaijani soldier was killed and another was wounded. -06D--
