Armenian Authorities Suggest Forming Minority Government - Shahnazaryan
Yerevan / 03.05.18 / Turan: Yesterday evening the representative of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia Vahram Baghdasaryan stated that his party will support the candidacy of the Prime Minister nominated by one third of the parliament. In fact, this means that the Republicans agree to the candidacy of Nikol Pashinyan.
In an interview with Shant TV, former chief of the security service of Armenia David Shahnazaryan disclosed the details of the proposal of the Republican Party, which should be implemented at the next session of the parliament on May 8.
According to him, the best and, perhaps, the only constitutional option looks like this: three parliamentary factions - Elk, Tsarukyan and Dashnaktsutyun form a coalition and a minority government.
The Republican Party, which has a majority in the parliament, has reached a preliminary agreement with the factions and will unconditionally pass laws of this government, including constitutional amendments. However, the Republican Party will not bear any political responsibility. All political responsibility will be borne by the minority government.
The new government will work until a new parliament is formed through new elections.
The guarantor of all agreements should be the President of the country, which, according to Shahnazaryan, "played an important and positive role" in the process of withdrawing the republic from a deep political crisis.
It should be noted that David Shahnazaryan for many years was a colleague of the first President of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan, but two years ago he turned to Serzh Sargsyan. -02D-
