Armenian general proposes to capture the north of Azerbaijan
Yerevan / 26.08.14 / Turan- ArmInfo: Armenian army can and should make a series of preventive strikes on the positions of Azerbaijani Army. This opinion was expressed at the press conference on August 26 in Yerevan by the former commander of Karabakh forces (1991-992 years) Arkady Ter-Tadevosian. He used to lead the operation to capture Khojaly, Shusha and Lachin.
"For 20 years, Azerbaijan periodically threatens us with war, sabotage, and keeps Armenia in blockade, without the real combat-ready army. We should stop it , we cannot sit idly, and allow the enemy to play endlessly on our nerves. We should make a strike first, and we have all combat capabilities for the implementation of this plan.
I would say more, if we providing the desired effect of these attacks and occupy commanding heights, we can plan the break of blockade , and go to the borders of Russia through the northern territories of Azerbaijan," said Ter-Tadevosian,
Referring to the possible reaction of the international community, and co-chair countries of OSCE Minsk Group, Ter-Tadevosian believes that the mediators are responsible for the current stalemate, turning a blind eye to the permanent Baku's attempts to destabilize the situation.
Ter-Tadevosian is not afraid of large-scale hostilities, because each of the parties to the conflict, in particular Azerbaijan, is not independent in its actions, due to numerous economic transactions with the West. "Fearing for their oil and gas pipes, Western countries will not allow Azerbaijan to start a real war," he said.
Azerbaijani Defense Ministry has not yet reacted to the statements of the Armenian General. -02D-
