Samvel Shahramanyan
Armenian separatists decided to continue fighting against Azerbaijan
Baku/06.10.23/Turan: Samvel Shahramanyan, the former "president" of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic ("NKR"), recently held an extended meeting at the Karabakh representation office in Yerevan on the evening of October 5. Speaking before a gathering that included numerous deputies of the dissolved "parliament" and "government," Shahramanyan addressed the reasons behind the dissolution of the unrecognized entity, which he had led during its last days.
Shahramanyan's speech included an invitation to participants to collaborate on finding solutions to the challenges faced by refugees from Azerbaijan who have sought shelter in Armenia. He also listened to proposals and engaged in discussions about measures to secure the release of former separatist leaders currently detained in the Baku pre-trial detention center. He advised them to seek assistance from foreign organizations in their efforts.
Furthermore, Shahramanyan called on attendees to join the political struggle against Azerbaijan and to support the "right of the people of Artsakh" to defend themselves. He encouraged their active involvement in this direction, as reported by the Yerevan website "Graparak."
Notably, the Azerbaijani authorities did not impede the departure of Shahramanyan and other local figures who were not included in the list of Armenian individuals accused of crimes by the Prosecutor General's Office. These individuals are allegedly responsible for thousands of deaths and the instigation of conflicts. On October 4, Shahramanyan arrived in Armenia, while eight other former and current leaders associated with separatism were detained. They are currently providing testimony to investigators from the State Security Service of Azerbaijan.
