Baku/19.08.22/Turan: The Armenians remaining in the city of Lachin are preparing to leave it by August 20. On this day, communications will be turned off here, the "Caucasian Knot" reports. In total, there are 70 people in the city, most of whom will leave for Armenia, a small part will go to Askeran. They were promised certain compensation for the purchase of new housing. On August 18, they gathered at the local church, built in 1998, where they held a farewell prayer.
All Armenians in Lachin were resettled here after the city was occupied in May 1992. Before that, there were no Armenians in Lachin.
The city returns under the control of Azerbaijan because the new road between Armenia and Karabakh goes around Lachin. This was discussed in a tripartite statement dated November 10, 2020. -02D-
