Arrest of Taleh Bagirzade Extended for 1 Month
The Narimanov district court in Baku today decided to extend for another month the arrest of the theologian Taleh Bagirzade, the lawyer Anar Gasymly told Turan.
According to the lawyer, the accused protested this, saying that his arrest would bring the authorities "to dishonesty and shame."
Bagirzade was arrested March 31 on charges of illegal possession of 1.026 grams of heroin. However, representatives of the religious community believe that the theologian was persecuted for his preaching and criticizing violations of the rights of believers. -16B -
