Azerbaijan and Georgia confirm strategic nature of bilateral relations
Relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia are of strategic nature, said the two presidents Ilham Aliyev and George Margvelashvili on February 12 at the end of the talks in Baku. Aliyev noted that both countries successfully cooperate in international organizations. He stressed that Azerbaijan and Georgia mutually support each other on issues relating to territorial integrity of states.
Moreover, Azerbaijan and Georgia actively develop trade and economic cooperation, and are on the same positions on issues of mutual protection of investments. During the talks they also discussed implementation of joint projects on energy security.
Successful development of humanitarian cooperation was also noted. As part of that visit Margvelashvily will visit Azerbaijani regions and meet with the Georgian community.
Margvelashvili noted that the relations between the two countries have the nature of brotherhood and friendship.
Margvelashvili noted that relations between the two countries are examples of successful cooperation at the regional and global level. In his view, the relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia are exceptional, and it manifests itself in joint projects. Noting that both countries face with the problem of violation of its territorial integrity, Margvelashvily expressed the hope that these issues will be resolved peacefully.
Margvelashvily invited Aliyev to pay return visit to Georgia.—06D--
