Azerbaijan and Iran started construction of border bridge in Eastern Zangezur
Baku/06.10.23/Turan: The ceremony of laying a road bridge across the Araz River from Azerbaijan to Iran took place today in the village of Agbend in the Zangilan region.
Note that the project is being implemented in keeping with the Azerbaijani-Iranian intergovernmental memorandum on the creation of new communication links between the East Zangezur Economic Region of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic through the territory of Iran.
Simultaneously with the construction of the bridge, the border and customs infrastructure will be created.
The ceremony was attended by Azerbaijani Co-chairman of the bilateral Interstate Commission on Economic cooperation, Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Iranian Co-chairman of the Commission, Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran, Mehrdad Bazrpash.
In their speeches, they noted that the objects of automobile and border-customs infrastructure being created will serve to increase cargo transportation and facilitate entry and exit to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
After the construction is completed, a road bridge with seven lanes will be able to pass at least 1100 cars daily. -06B-
