On February 6, 2025, the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the Republic of Azerbaijan is marked. On this occasion, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Baku, Pavel Gusev, published an article on Facebook.

"This is an important date symbolizing friendship, mutual support, and strategic partnership between our countries. Over the past three decades, we have strengthened ties in the political, economic, humanitarian, and cultural spheres, building a solid foundation for further cooperation," Gusev writes.

He also notes that "the bilateral diplomatic relations have deep historical roots. In 1918, official diplomatic contacts were established between the State of Ukraine and the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, laying a strong foundation for modern partnership."

From the very first days of the independence of Ukraine and Azerbaijan, the peoples of the two countries have always supported each other. Among the other heroes buried at the Alley of Martyrs in the center of Baku is Ukrainian pilot Viktor Seriohin, who died on January 28, 1992, while piloting a helicopter over the skies of Karabakh.

On the wall of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Azerbaijan, portraits of Azerbaijanis who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of Ukraine are displayed. "Our countries consistently support each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty, adhering to the fundamental principles of international law," the ambassador noted.
