Azerbaijan-Armenia: U.S. Urges Sides 'Meet Immediately, Agree On Supplying Essential Goods'
Washington D.C./01.09.23/Turan: The U.S. envoy to the UN said on her final day as the President of the United Nations Security Council that political disputes over Nagorno-Karabakh "should never stand in the way of providing critical provisions to people in need," TURAM's Washington correspondent reports.
"We are deeply concerned about the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Nagorno-Karabakh and the blockade of the Lachin corridor," Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield said Thursday afternoon in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Thomas-Greenfield's comments came as the State Department reiterated its call to re-open the Lachin road.
"We... urge the sides to meet immediately, and agree on supplying essential goods," Spokesperson Matthew Miller separately noted on X.
"The U.S. is working to remove obstacles preventing the delivery of humanitarian assistance to the population of Nagorno-Karabakh," Miller added.
