Azerbaijan to allocate $1 million for post-pandemic recovery of developing countries
Baku/02.03.23/Turan: Azerbaijan will allocate $1 million for the post-pandemic recovery of developing countries. This was stated by President Ilham Aliyev, speaking today at the summit of the Non-Aligned Movement Contact Group on Combating COVID-19 in Baku.
"As during the COVID-19 pandemic, Azerbaijan will continue to provide financial and humanitarian assistance to the Non-Aligned Movement member countries in need. I declare two global tasks here. They should support the post-pandemic recovery of Africa and small island developing states," Aliyev said.
He said that Azerbaijan, as the first donor country, allocates funds in the amount of 1 million US dollars for both global tasks. "I believe that the members of the Non-Aligned Movement and other members of the international community will support Azerbaijan's initiative and join us in supporting countries in need during the post-pandemic recovery period," Aliyev stressed.
He reminded that Azerbaijan has provided humanitarian and financial assistance during the acute phase of the pandemic to over 80 countries, most of which are not members of the Movement through bilateral channels or through WHO. -06B-
