Azerbaijani Foreign Minister and US Assistant Secretary of State discussed the situation in the region
Baku/17.04.23/Turan: Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Derek Hogan, Acting Assistant US Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, held a phone conversation on Monday to discuss various issues of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States, as well as the current situation in the region, including the peace agenda between Yerevan and Baku, according to the press service of the Foreign Ministry.
Bayramov expressed concern over Armenia's continued military-political provocations, which are undermining Azerbaijan's efforts for peace. He emphasized that Armenia has not yet withdrawn its armed forces from Azerbaijani territory and is obstructing the reintegration of Armenians in Karabakh, as well as opposing the establishment of a border checkpoint in Lachin.
Hogan acknowledged the importance of successfully completing the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia through negotiations, and establishing lasting peace and security in the region. He reiterated that the United States is ready to support the peace process.
