Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Conveys Concerns to OSCE Chief Over Armenia's Peace Disruption Efforts
Baku/11.08.23/Turan: Ceyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, strongly objected to Armenia's use of the Lachin road for military purposes during its three-decade military occupation, as well as post-conflict activities related to the illegal export of Azerbaijan's natural resources to Armenia. Bayramov stressed the importance of the border checkpoint "Lachin" for the suppression of such provocative actions.
On August 10, during a conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Northern Macedonia Buyar Osmani, who currently holds the post of Chairman of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Bayramov expressed his concerns about the future peace process for the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict. He highlighted Armenia's unfounded claims regarding the "tense humanitarian situation in the region" and the so-called "blockade". He also stressed that Armenia hinders the functioning of the Aghdam-Khankendi road, which is a solution proposed by Azerbaijan to meet the needs of Armenian residents. According to Bayramov, these actions emphasize the political rather than humanitarian nature of the problem, pointing to Armenia's attempt to manipulate the situation.
Bayramov stressed that the escalation of Armenia's provocations against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan is aimed at disrupting progress in the peace process. He noted that Armenia's ongoing provocations, especially those related to the Lachin border checkpoint, hinder the establishment of stability in the region and hinder the reintegration of Armenian residents into Azerbaijani society. These actions underscore Yerevan's lack of genuine interest in the peace process.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Bayramov and Osmani also discussed issues of cooperation within the OSCE, the bilateral and multilateral agenda of cooperation between Azerbaijan and North Macedonia, etc.—0--
