Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry demanded from Iran to clarify the fate of two Azerbaijani poets
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received the Minister of Education of Iran Hamidrza Hajiibabayi yesterday.
During the meeting the sides discussed the state of bilateral relations and processes occurring in the region.
Mammadyarov said that the contradictions in the bilateral relations do not correspond to their spirit, based on a common culture, history and good neighborliness. Mamedyarov stressed that two young Azerbaijani poets are still in custody in Iran. This concerns the Azerbaijani society. He demanded that Iran's security, in accordance with international law, allow these people to meet with Azerbaijan's consul.
Mammadyarov passed the serious concern of the Government of Azerbaijan to the Iranian leadership through the Iranian minister. -06D -
