Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry denies reports of closing a corridor for NATO aircraft
Baku / 08.04.19 / Turan: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has denied reports by a number of German media on the closure of an air corridor for NATO aircraft flying to Afghanistan.
In particular, the Spiegel edition claims that since March, Azerbaijan has not allowed NATO aircraft to fly over their territory for transportation to Afghanistan.
"Azerbaijan cooperated, cooperates and will continue cooperation with NATO member countries on the basis of the principles of partnership and the norms of international law," said Leila Abdullayeva, an official spokesman for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
She called unfounded similar publications in the German media, which indicate a biased attitude towards Azerbaijan.
According to Spiegel, the Bundeswehr military personnel cannot use the aircraft of the German Air Force for flights to Afghanistan, and has to use American military transport aircraft C-17.
This situation arose after the refusal of Azerbaijan to grant NATO permission to fly over its territory.
In particular, after Azerbaijan"s refusal to allow passage through the country's airspace, the Bundeswehr plane had to cancel the flight to Afghanistan at the end of March. -02D-
