Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry on the refusal of the Armenian authorities to exchange prisoners
Baku / 21.11.18 / Turan: Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan rejects the principles of humanism laid down in the Geneva Conventions, stated the comment of the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan in connection with the refusal of official Yerevan to exchange prisoners from both sides on the principle of "all for all". The commentary by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry also said that Pashinyan"s refusal to exchange prisoners was a disregard of the humanitarian efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group.
It should be noted that three Azerbaijanis are officially in captivity: Shahbaz Guliyev, Dilgam Asgarov, and Elnur Huseynzade. The first two were convicted by an Armenian court on charges of murder in the territory of Kalbajar, where they were detained.Three Armenians are in captivity in Azerbaijan: Karen Ghazaryan, Zaven Karapetyan, and Arsen Baghdasaryan, convicted for 15 years. The Armenian side considers unequal exchange, calling Dilgam Askerov and Shahbaz Guliyev saboteurs-criminals. -02D-
