Azerbaijani-Indian political consultations continue
Baku/29.11.22/ Turan: The fifth bilateral political consultations between representatives of the Foreign Ministries of Azerbaijan and India were held in New Delhi the day before. The delegations of the parties were headed by Deputy Foreign Ministers Elnur Mammadov and Sanjay Verma, the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported.
During the consultations, the current state of relations between the two countries, the work of the intergovernmental commission, the development of relations in the political, economic, trade, cultural, educational and other fields, as well as the prospects for cooperation within the UN and the Non-Aligned Movement were touched upon.
Mammadov informed the Indian side about the new realities in the region in the post-conflict period, the ongoing reconstruction and construction work in the liberated territories, the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the promotion of a peaceful agenda and the opening of communications. During the meeting, the parties also exchanged views on issues of regional and international security, as well as on other topics of mutual interest.
The political consultations took place against the backdrop of recent reports of Indian arms supplies to Armenia, as well as anti-Azerbaijani speeches by the Indian representative to the UN during a discussion of the escalation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. ----06D----

On Saturday, December 7th, a session of the "Musavat" Party's Majlis took place. During the session, the party leader, Isa Gambar, presented a report on the current socio-political situation in the country. The Majlis also approved a decision by the party’s board to grant district organizations of "Musavat" the authority to nominate candidates for the municipal elections scheduled for January 29, 2025. The party outlined its main areas of activity for 2025. A statement was issued on the human rights situation in the country.

The press freedom organization Reporters Without Borders (RSF) condemned the arrests of Meydan TV employees. A statement of the organization on RSF’s X (formerly Twitter) account said: "Reporters Without Borders condemns these new arrests and calls for their immediate release, as well as the release of 13 other journalists held in disgraceful conditions on trumped-up charges."

Journalists must be able to report on issues without the fear of arrest, intimidation, or violence." This statement was posted by the UK Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Fergus Auld, on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday.
