Azerbaijani journalist was abducted in Tbilisi by order of Ivanishvili – former Deputy Head of the Security Council of Georgia
Baku/27.07.22 /Turan: Azerbaijani journalist Afgan Mukhtarly was abducted in 2017 and forcibly taken to Baku by order of the founder of the "Georgian Dream" Bidzina Ivanishvili. This was stated by the former deputy head of the State Security Service of Georgia Soso Gogashvili.
This information made by Gogashvili was transmitted on July 26 from the Rustavi prison, where he is serving his sentence. Gogashvili's letter was published on his page on the social network.
Gogashvili claims that all the evidence in this case was destroyed by the Operational and Technical Department of the State Security Service.
In May 2017, Afgan Mukhtarly was abducted by Georgian security forces and handed over to the Azerbaijani side at the border. He was taken to Baku and in January 2018 was sentenced to six years of imprisonment on charges of illegally crossing the border, smuggling and resisting a representative of the authorities.
On March 17, 2020, the court commuted Mukhtarly's sentence, he was released and emigrated to Germany.
Mukhtarly reacted to Gogashvili's message as stating that he intends to seek the interrogation of the former deputy head of the State Security Service over his abduction case. "After consulting with a lawyer, we will decide how to proceed. We will definitely try to get Soso Gogashvili to testify in the prosecutor's office," Mukhtarly said. -06D-
