Hugo Guevara appointed Charge d'affaires of the United States in Azerbaijan
Baku/27.07.22/Turan: Hugo Guevara has been appointed Charge d'affaires of the United States in Azerbaijan, the embassy said in a statement on July 27.
The new deputy head of the diplomatic mission has extensive experience in the US State Department. One of his last missions was to work at the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala, where he oversaw security cooperation and the rule of law.
"I arrived in Baku as a deputy Ambassador. In the near future, Ambassador Litsenberger is completing his diplomatic mission. Until the arrival of the new ambassador, I'll be a temporary attorney. I studied the Azerbaijani language in Washington," Guevara said in his video address.
Recall that the current Ambassador Litsenberger completes the mission this month. Earlier, US President Joe Biden proposed a candidate for the post of Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mark Libby, who currently holds the position of adviser to the State Department. His candidacy must be approved by the Senate. -16D06-
