Azerbaijani Ombudsman visits arrested young Karabakh Armenians
Baku/29.08.23/Turan: On August 29, Azerbaijani Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva visited three young Karabakh Armenians arrested under administrative procedure, who were detained the day before at the Lachin border checkpoint and administratively arrested for 10 days.
This is stated in the message of the ombudsman's office. Alen Sargsyan, Vahe Hovsepyan and Levon Grigoryan had no complaints about the conditions of detention and their treatment, expressed satisfaction with the food, as well as medical and psychological assistance. During the visit, the detainees were given the opportunity to talk on the phone with their family members, further stated in the press release.
Recall that these persons are the players of the Martuni Avo football team of Karabakh Armenians, which in 2021 distributed a video showing how all members of the team wipe their feet on the Azerbaijani flag. Then the Azerbaijani prosecutor's office opened a criminal case under Art. "inciting national hatred" and "insulting the state flag." After the arrest, they admitted their guilt, repented of their deeds, in connection with which the Azerbaijani prosecutor's office released them from criminal prosecution.
