Baku/08.07.23/Turan: On July 7, the 21st meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in Moscow under the joint chairmanship of the Deputy Prime Ministers of the Russian Federation and Azerbaijan - Alexey Overchuk and Shahin Mustafayev. The event was attended by representatives of relevant structures, ministries and departments of the two countries, according to a statement published on the website of the Government of the Russian Federation.

The parties summed up the annual results of bilateral cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, industry, energy, transport, agriculture, finance, healthcare, culture, science, interregional cooperation, education and tourism. The strengthening of interregional cooperation was noted.

More than 70 constituent entities of the Russian Federation maintain trade and economic ties with Azerbaijan. 12 Russian regions have signed agreements on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The countries cooperate in the support and development of small and medium-sized enterprises, ensuring economic mobility and socio-economic stability. Contacts between business communities are developing. The Russian-Azerbaijani Business Council is actively working. 

"Industrial cooperation is a successful area of Russian-Azerbaijani cooperation.

During the meeting, cooperation in the transport and logistics sector was considered. Progress has been noted in the organization of the work of international checkpoints," the message further notes. Constructive cooperation has been established between the customs services of Russia and Azerbaijan, aimed at speeding up customs operations.

The sides noted the high level of Russian-Azerbaijani cultural and humanitarian relations.

Bilateral cooperation in the field of higher education and youth policy is developing. In February 2023, the Russian side took the initiative to hold the first Russian-Azerbaijani Scientific and Educational Forum in Baku.

Following the meeting, the final protocol of the 21st meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission was signed.

"The sides confirmed their readiness to continue a constructive dialogue aimed at strengthening Russian-Azerbaijani relations in all areas of cooperation," the message concluded. ---06B---
