Baku hosts the plenary session of the BSEC PA
The 40th plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly (PA) of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) has opened in Baku.
A day earlier, the sittings of various committees of the BSEC PA took place. They considered the issues on the agenda.
The message from President Ilham Aliyev to the participants said that transnational projects implemented by joint efforts of the BSEC Member States have created favorable conditions for the dynamic development of the region.
"However, along with this, the existence of a number of problems in our region, whose solution is delayed, including the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, remains a major obstacle to the progress of the countries located here. Undoubtedly the just resolution of most of the conflicts, on the basis of universally recognized principles and norms of international law, can open up completely new perspectives for the development of international cooperation," the document says.
The BSEC was established in 1992. Its members include Russia, Azerbaijan, Albania, Armenia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine.
Austria, Germany, Egypt, Israel, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Tunisia, France, the European Energy Charter Conference and the International Black Sea Club have observer status in the organization.
The purpose of the organization is the establishment of multilateral cooperation in the Black Sea basin in trade, transport, tourism and other areas. The headquarters of the organization is located in Istanbul.
