Baku protested Tbilisi in connection with the installation of a monument to Armenian militants
Baku/24.01.19/Turan: Official Baku protested to Tbilisi because of the installation of the Akhalkalaki municipality of Georgia in the village of Bugashen, a monument to Mikhail Avagyan, who participated in the occupation of the territories of Azerbaijan. According to the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani ambassador to Georgia asked for a meeting at the Foreign Ministry of this country, where he brought to the attention the protest of the Azerbaijani side.
At the same time, the Georgian ambassador to Baku was invited to the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan, and Tbilisi was required to take urgent measures to eliminate this fact, which does not correspond to the spirit of strategic partnership between the two countries.
The opening of the Avagyan monument took place on January 20. The ceremony was attended by the mayor of Akhalkalaki, the chairman of the local Sakrebulo, the deputies of the Georgian parliament Enzel Mkoyan and Samvel Manukyan, and the ambassador of Armenia to Georgia Ruben Sadoyan.
Avagyan was introduced as a "hero" who participated in hostilities in Horadiz, Khojaly, Hadrut and Fizuli. He was mortally wounded during the battles for Horadiz (Fizuli region of Azerbaijan).
Thus, Avagyan was an active participant in the occupation of the territories of Azerbaijan. Therefore, the establishment of a monument to him is contrary to the state policy of Georgia, which recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. -06D-

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) today issued five rulings on applications from Azerbaijan. The case of "Afgan Mammadov v. Azerbaijan" concerned the complainant's exclusion from the Bar Association. Mammadov was expelled based on a complaint filed by a colleague, which he considered unjust. The ECHR ruled that Mammadov's rights had been violated and ordered Azerbaijan to pay him €5,000 in compensation for moral damage and €1,000 to cover legal costs.
