Baku Threatens EU with Retaliatory Steps
Official Baku has reacted angrily to the resolution of the European Parliament, which gives harsh criticism of the human rights situation in Azerbaijan and the question of possible targeted sanctions against judges and politicians involved in the persecution of activists for political reasons.
The resolution adopted by the European Parliament is another provocative step from anti-Azerbaijani forces, in particular, the Minister of Economy and Industry of Azerbaijan, the chairman of the State Commission for Cooperation with the European Union Shahin Mustafayev said at a meeting with the Head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan Malena Mard on 10 September.
As the press service of the Ministry of Economy and Industry said, Mustafayev stressed that "this biased step by the EU Parliament will not go unanswered."
Mard, in turn, promised to bring this position to the attention of the European Commission.
Note that the resolution adopted on 10 September by the European Parliament also called on the European Service of Foreign Policy and the EU Member States not to send observers to the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan. -06D--
