Baku to prepare for the visit of the Pope
On October 2 the Pope Francis will visit Azerbaijan. He will arrive in Baku from Tbilisi, where he will arrive on September 30, the press service of the Vatican. According to the program, on 2 October the Pope will hold a mass in the metropolitan church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Then he will have a meeting with the Azerbaijani President, the leaders of the Muslim, Orthodox and Jewish communities in the country.
Earlier, the Pope said that he accepted the invitation to visit these countries because of the ancient Christian roots that are present in these lands, as well as to encourage the search for peace.
The Pope will stay in Georgia for more than two days, in Azerbaijan - less than one day.
It is noteworthy that the Pope Francis is the first Pope to recognize the Armenian Genocide, which caused sharp criticism in Turkey and Azerbaijan. -02В-
