Barack Obama won the U.S. presidential election

The Democratic candidate Barack Obama won the presidential election - according to preliminary election results. The current U.S. leader received 303 electoral votes, whilst Republican Mitt Romney is supported by 203 electors.

These elections were the 57th in a row in the U.S. history. In addition to the president, today in the U.S. there were another 14 thousand different levels of elections, including the election of the House of Representatives and the election of state governors.

Until recently, the politicians found it difficult to answer who will win, and opinion polls showed that both candidates are on a par. However, the vote showed that America still favors Democrats.

Barack Obama won in Delaware (59% vs 40%), Florida (50% vs. 49%), DC (92% vs. 7%), Rhode Island (63% vs. 35%), Illinois (57% vs. 41%), New Jersey (59% vs 40%), Ohio (50% vs. 49%), Vermont (67% vs 31%), Colorado (51% versus 47%) and others.

Mitt Romney was supported in North Carolina (51% vs 48%), Kentucky (60% vs. 38%), Tennessee (60% vs. 39%), Louisiana (60% vs. 38%), and Texas (59% vs 40%). Note that in the western states the vote is still going on, but it will not have a significant impact on the results of the election. -02D-
