CEC approved the schedule of the election campaign
Baku / 06.02.18 / Turan: The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan has today approved a calendar plan of the main events related to the preparation and holding of the early presidential elections, which are scheduled for April 11. According to the document, submission to the CEC of documents necessary for registration of the presidential candidate will continue from February 27 to 18:00 on March 12. Prior to April 1, applications will be accepted to the CEC to monitor the elections throughout the territory of Azerbaijan.
Those wishing to observe the elections in the territory of individual constituencies may apply for accreditation to the relevant district election commissions by April 6.
Pre-election campaigning will begin for 23 calendar days before the election day and will end 24 hours before the start of voting, that is, it will be held from March 19 to 08:00 on April 19.
The voting will begin on April 11 at 08.00 and finish at 19.00. Preliminary results of voting will be known late in the evening on April 11.-06D--

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) today issued five rulings on applications from Azerbaijan. The case of "Afgan Mammadov v. Azerbaijan" concerned the complainant's exclusion from the Bar Association. Mammadov was expelled based on a complaint filed by a colleague, which he considered unjust. The ECHR ruled that Mammadov's rights had been violated and ordered Azerbaijan to pay him €5,000 in compensation for moral damage and €1,000 to cover legal costs.
