CEC registered Ilham Aliyev as presidential candidate
Baku/27.02.18/Turan: The Central Election Commission today registered the current head of state Ilham Aliyev as presidential candidate in the April 11 extraordinary elections. In support of Ilham Aliyev, 45,000 voters' signatures were submitted.After checking 42000 signatures that were recognized as valid, the need to verify the rest fell away. Members of the CEC voted to register Aliyev as presidential candidate. He became the first of 15 candidates for the post of head of state who passed registration as an official candidate. Leading opposition forces boycott the elections. -06D-
