Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation urged Armenians to keep away from European institutions
Baku/13.02.23/Turan: On February 13, a meeting between Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin and Head of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova was held in the State Duma of Moscow. The meeting resulted in signing an Agreement on cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries was signed. It was decided to create a high-level inter-parliamentary commission, according to a statement on the website of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
The agreement will allow reaching a new level of interaction between the State Duma and the Milli Majlis, will allow the implementation of "new formats," said Viacheslav Volodin.
In turn, Gafarova noted the growth in trade turnover, as well as the volume of Russian investments in the economy of Azerbaijan, and also emphasized the special role of interaction between the two countries in the cultural and humanitarian spheres. She expressed confidence that the signing of the Agreement will contribute to the comprehensive strengthening of ties between the two countries.
Referring to the situation in Karabakh, Gafarova noted that Baku "highly appreciates" the role of the President of the Russian Federation in the settlement.
Volodin warned against attempts to involve European structures, in particular the European Parliament and PACE, in resolving the conflict.
“Let's proceed from the fact that there is a decision taken at the level of the heads of state - Azerbaijan, Armenia and the Russian Federation. We will be guided by this and, for our part, will do everything to ensure that these agreements are implemented,” said Viacheslav Volodin. “And those who make statements in the direction of European institutions can simply lose the country,” Volodin said.
“Therefore, wanting to involve the European Parliament and PACE, we must think 10 times and weigh how this could end, using the example of Ukraine, Yugoslavia, and other countries,” Volodin said. 02D
