Chairmanship in GUAM transferred from Azerbaijan to Georgia
Baku / 20.12.12/Turan-BSPRESS: Chairmanship of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM (Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova), GUAM PA transferred from Azerbaijan to Georgia, which is to chair the Organization, from 1 January, 2013 .
At the fifth meeting in Baku, vice-speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Zurab Abashidze's called one of the main priorities of the head of the Georgian delegation in GUAM PA a greater interaction with other international organizations, as well as consolidation of the support of the international community for strengthening the process of peaceful settlement of conflicts in the countries GUAM-member states.
Other priorities of Georgia GUAM PA in 2013 he called ensuring of more close political relations - increased and coordinated policy within the organization itself, strengthening GUAM image in the international system, the deepening of section cooperation of GUAM, including improvement of the transit potential of GUAM creating favorable conditions for the reform and development of the economies and increased competitiveness GUAM transport corridor, the maximum use of the opportunities of GUAM Free Trade Area, and the development of new and mutually beneficial economic projects, including the study of the feasibility of such projects with interested parties.
"Georgia also sees the need to increase the role of GUAM in ensuring European energy security, maintaining the positive dynamics of cooperation with GUAM partner countries, promoting inter-parliamentary co-operation," said Abashidze. -02D-
