Chief of Staff as Head of Foreign Ministry and US State Department Critic
Azerbaijani Defense Ministry restores ties with the Pentagon, said the military establishment of the country.
At the same time the Ministry of Defense stressed that the relations between the military departments recovered despite the "non-constructive policy" of the US State Department.
"About a year there is a cooling of relations between Azerbaijan and the United States. Despite the unconstructive policy of the State Department of the United States against our country, Azerbaijan demonstrates its achievements and successes to the world.
Clearly provocative publications and activities of the State Department did not prevent Azerbaijan to hold the 1st European Games at the highest level, to achieve sustained economic growth, allow journalists and guests from around the world to see the presence of democracy and freedom in our country. And all this is happening against the background of real increase in the level of combat capability of our Armed Forces," said the press release of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan.
Further, the report said that the chief of the General Staff Najmeddin Sadykov invited the US military attaché to the Ministry of Defense, and expressed regret at the cooling in the area of military cooperation.
"Despite the ongoing State Department policy of double standards in relation to our country, we continue to perform reliable partnership with NATO, and successfully fulfill our mission in Afghanistan," said Sadykov.
At the end of the conversation General Sadykov reported the Defense Ministry's readiness to continue military cooperation with the Pentagon and NATO, and to the "full restoration of trust between our military agencies."
He expressed the hope that "further attempts of officials of the State Department to interfere with the implementation of plans of military cooperation will not be repeated, the military will not go on about the politicians breaking the agreed and approved plans and our countries will be able to raise the interaction and collaboration to a higher level." -16 / 06D-
