At a meeting of the Committee to Protect the rights of Leyla Yunus on Saturday, the co-chairman Vidadi Mirkamal informed on the arrest of the newspaper Azadlig reporter Seymour Hazy, on the trial of the son of Oktay Gyulalyev, about the lawsuit from the Interior Minister against the Chairman of the Association of the Intelligentsia Eldeniz Guliyev.
The head of the Popular Front Party Ali Kerimli said that the arrest of Seymour Hazy after arrest of Murad Adilov is an indication that the authorities intend to strangle the show of Azerbaijan Saati waged by the two journalists.

All these are methods of Nazi Germany, which were applied against the Jews in the 30-ies of the last century. He noted that the magazine Forbes compared the situation in Azerbaijan with the dictatorship in North Korea.
The lawyer Fuad Agayev believes that the latest arrests are related to pro-Russian forces. All European structures are displaced from Azerbaijan to let the country integrate with Russia, the lawyer said. He believes that as the tensions between the West and Russia continue, these arrests will not receive due attention of the West. Moreover, he expects continued arrests.

On January 17, the Khatai District Court of Baku rejected the requests for house arrest for journalists Aynur Elgünesh and Natig Djavadly, employees of Meydan TV, their lawyers, Elchin Sadigov and Zibeyda Sadigova reported to Turan news agency. According to the lawyers, there are no legal or procedural grounds for keeping the journalists in detention. The journalists themselves stated that the criminal case against them had been fabricated to punish them for their professional activities.
