Confidentiality of correspondence of lawyer Intigam Aliyev violated in jail
The Baku prison number 1 violated the confidentiality of correspondence of the contained therein human rights defender Intigam Aliyev and his lawyer Anar Gasymly.
As the lawyer told Turan, there are no problems with the conditions of Aliyev. However, bureaucratic obstacles are created to the realization of the right to defense.
So records prepared by Aliyev on the defense organization are taken before the meeting with the lawyer, and often not returned. It violates the privacy of communication with the lawyer who was arrested and his right to an effective remedy.
Another violation of the rights of Aliyev, according to the lawyer, is seizing from the office of the "Society of legal education" materials that are ready to be sent to the European Court of Human Rights.
In addition, materials were seized in 40 cases involving complaints of parliamentary elections in 2010, which are already in communication with ECHR. In addition, they seized another 100 cases referred to the Strasbourg Court, and did other violations of civil and political rights.
All of these materials have no relation to the bringing of charges against Aliyev, the lawyer said.
According to him, the defense has already appealed to the Prosecutor General's Office with a request to return these things, because their removal violates the rights of others. However, there was no answer.
Intigam Aliyev himself believes that his arrest has the purpose to prevent the bringing of applications from citizens of Azerbaijan to the Strasbourg Court.
* Intigam Aliyev was arrested Aug. 8 on charges of illegal business activities, tax evasion and abuse of office.
Amnesty International declared him a "prisoner of conscience." -06D-
