Council of Europe Appoints New Rapporteur on Azerbaijan
The meeting of the PACE Monitoring Committee elected a new speaker on Azerbaijan.
Instead of the MP from Malta, Joseph Gresh, whose term of office has been completed, MP Tadeusz Iwinski from Poland was elected for a 5-year term, according to sources in the Monitoring Committee.
Iwinski was a member of the Monitoring Committee and has served as Deputy Chairman of the Political Committee of PACE.
Recall that the second rapporteur on Azerbaijan is a Spanish MP Pedro Agramunt.
The speakers are appointed to assess the performance of obligations by member countries of the PACE. They periodically visit the country and prepare a report to the PACE session on various issues. -02D-
