Court of Appeal re-arrests acquitted customs officers
Baku/29.07.22/Turan: On Friday, the Baku Court of Appeal satisfied the protest of the prosecutor's office against the decision of the Serious Crimes Court against employees of the Baku Main Customs Department. The court of first instance gave some of the defendants suspended sentences, while others were acquitted.
Rafael Azizov, Emin Khalilov, Azer Bakhshiev were imprisoned for three years, Jeyhun Shabanov - for two years. All of them were arrested in the courtroom. Orhan Zohrabov, Sadykh Iskenderov and Miraga Agayev, previously acquitted by the court of first instance, received suspended sentences.
All of the defendants were arrested on charges of repeatedly taking bribes in May 2021. They were accused of taking bribes from entrepreneurs in exchange for speeding up the passage of imported goods. -02D-
