Kyiv accused Russian troops of shooting jail with prisoners of the Azov regiment
Baku/29.07.22/Turan: Last night, the Russian Armed Forces deliberately fired artillery from a jail in the city of Yelenovka (Donetsk region, under Russian control), where Ukrainian prisoners of the Azov regiment were kept, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As a result of this "war crime", at least 53 Ukrainian prisoners were killed and about 130 were injured. This crime was committed in order to hide the traces of torture of prisoners and executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war, according to Kyiv.
According to the Ukrainian side, the prisoners were brought to this jail two days ago. In addition, no one from the Russian military was injured during the shelling. This is further evidence that this crime is the work of Russia.
The Ukrainian General Staff categorically refutes the assertions of the Russian Armed Forces that the jail was shelled by the Ukrainian side. "We know where our prisoners are and we do not fire at civilian targets," the statement said. --02D--
