Court refuses to recognize as illegal the search in the apartment connected with G.Ibadoglu
Baku/11.08.23/Turan: Today, the Narimanov District Court of Baku examined the complaint of the defense of opposition politician and economist scientist Gubad Ibadoglu on the illegality of conducting a search in an apartment in the Narimanov district of Baku, in which he is registered.
The search was carried out on July 23 on the day of his detention and, according to the defense, there was no court decision on this and therefore this investigative event was illegal. The complaint was filed by lawyer Zibeida Sadygova.
According to the lawyer, Ibadoglu himself stated in court that he did not live in this apartment, but had been in the USA and Europe for a long time, where he was engaged in scientific and pedagogical activities. No one lived in this apartment at all.
Therefore, the "fake" or "genuine" dollars "found" in the apartment have nothing to do with him. However, the court did not satisfy the complaint, the defense will appeal.
According to the defense, the recognition of the illegality of the search would deprive the investigation of the "evidence base" in this connection, Ibadoglu had to be released.
Earlier, it was reported that during a search of the apartment where Ibadoglu is registered, 40 thousand dollars were found and seized.
** In June, Ibadoglu, together with the head of the National Council, Professor Jamil Hasanli and disgraced diplomat Arif Mammadov, who is in political exile in Europe, announced the creation of the Azerbaijani Youth Education Fund, which was registered in London.
Ibadoglu took the initiative to confiscate the property of Azerbaijani officials abroad and transfer these funds to the mentioned Fund. ---06B---
