Electoral Bloc Freedom 2015 Established
On Wednesday the creation of the opposition electoral bloc Freedom 2015 was announced for the upcoming November parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan.
The electoral bloc has been established by the parties "Classic" Popular Front of Azerbaijan, Aydinlar (intellectuals), Free Democrats, Great Azerbaijan, Citizens and Development, Freedom, the Liberal Democratic Party and the People's Party.
They decided to establish the Political Council of the bloc with the leaders of political parties and the formation of election headquarters.
The leader of the People's Party Panah Huseyn told Turan the priority of the bloc Freedom 2015 is to achieve a democratic atmosphere in the country to hold free elections.
According to him, the bloc Freedom 2015 is ready to cooperate with all political forces for pro-democratic reforms.
The bloc is open to new members. There may be other forms of functional cooperation, for example, cooperation in achieving ensure democratic electoral environment, and the organization of joint election monitoring.
With regard to the election program of the bloc, it will be prepared during subsequent consultations.
Huseyn personally believe that this program can be based on the basis of the "road map" of democratic reforms, developed at the time of the Public Chamber.
At the founding meeting they also decided to appeal to the leadership of the country to release all the persons passing in a list of local and international organizations as political prisoners before the coming European Games in Baku. -06B--

On the evening of February 5, it was reported that journalist Shahnaz Beylargizi had been arrested. She had been a presenter on the Toplum TV channel for several years. After a criminal case was initiated against the channel in March 2024 and nearly all of its staff were arrested, Beylargizi was questioned multiple times.
