Elmar Mammadyarov Met with Ali Larijani
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov on the sidelines of the summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in Tehran on August 30, met with the Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.
As the press service of the Foreign Ministry said, during the meeting they discussed prospects of the bilateral cooperation.
Larijani said Iran is interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan and expressed Iran’s support for territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.
Mammadyarov informed Larijani about the situation in the negotiations on the Karabakh conflict settlement and the need to resolve the issue of withdrawal of Armenian forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. Sooner or later Azerbaijan will restore its territorial integrity, Mammadyarov said.
However, Mamedyarov raised the issue of the arrest in Iran of two Azerbaijani poets, Shahriyar Hajizadeh and Farid Hussein. Stressing that the arrest of the poets is a deep concern of the Azerbaijani people and state, Mammadyarov expressed hope for a quick positive resolution of this issue. - 0 -
