E.Mammadyarov: Azerbaijan for strategic partnership with the EU
Baku/27.01.14/Turan : Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, Elmar Mammadyarov, received the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, Philippe Lefort, to mark the completion of his mission.
During the meeting they discussed expansion of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EU. Mammadyarov noted the importance of establishing strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the EU, and also spoke about the results of his meetings in Paris on 23-24 January with Armenian Foreign Minister and OSCE Minsk Group.
Azerbaijani Minister Lefort wished success in his future work, the press service of the Foreign Ministry.—06D—

At the early elections to the Milli Majlis on September 1, 806 people applied to the district election commissions to become candidates for deputies, the head of this structure Mazahir Panahov told at today's meeting of the Central Election Commission (CEC). The Tbilisi-based Institute for the Protection of Rights and Freedoms issued a statement in connection with the ban to Afghan Sadigov, the founder of the Azerbaijani website Azel.tv on travel from Georgia to third countries to the founder of the Azerbaijani website Azel.tv. The statement of the organization, established in 2018 by a group of Azerbaijani political emigrants, notes that Sadigov moved to Georgia in connection with the repression in Azerbaijan against human rights defenders, journalists and opposition activists.
