Erdogan: Armenian-Turkish relations will not be normalized without resolution of the Karabakh conflict
Without resolution of the Karabakh conflict the relations between Turkey and Armenia cannot be normalized, said Prime Minister Erdogan . According to the news agency Anadolu, the Prime Minister noted that the Karabakh conflict is "a priority" for Ankara.
"Without addressing this issue, we cannot say "yes" to the normalization of relations with Armenia, because there is a serious injustice and the Karabakh conflict should be resolved," he said.
Erdogan expressed condolences to the Armenians yesterday, meaning descendants of victims of the events of 1915. This has caused a mixed reaction in Armenia, where Erdogan's words were actually ignored or rejected. Armenian politicians express the general idea that Ankara is trying to avoid recognition of the "genocide" of Armenians and Armenia waits not for condolences, but for recognition.
Meanwhile, the U.S. State Department and the European Union praised Erdogan. -02D-
