Astana/12.10.22/Turan: On Wednesday, in Astana, before the 6th meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), the Presidents of Kazakhstan and Turkey Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan held the sixth meeting of the high-level strategic cooperation council.

"The agenda of the meeting included five issues: foreign policy and investment, trade and economic cooperation, transport and logistics, military industry, energy and agriculture," Akorda's press service said in a statement.

“Our goal is to bring the mutual trade turnover to $10 billion. Over the past 15 years, Ankara has invested $4.35 billion in Kazakhstan. And our country has invested $1.13 billion in Turkey. Turkey is among the top 10 largest investors in Kazakhstan. In general, transit and transport links play an important role in building the potential of bilateral trade. We call for the development of the Trans-Caspian Corridor to reduce transportation costs and delivery times. At today's meeting, we discussed this issue and came to a common opinion. In June of this year, a meeting was held in Baku in a trilateral format. We intend to continue this tradition. We propose to hold the next meeting in Aktau,” Tokayev said.

The President of Turkey, on behalf of himself and on behalf of his delegation, thanked the Kazakh people for their hospitality and expressed interest in the further development of cooperation between the two countries in all areas.

“We are taking part in the diversification of the economy of Kazakhstan. I am confident that our companies will also contribute to the implementation of initiatives aimed at providing employment for the people. We agreed to increase our trade turnover in the short term to $5 billion and in the medium term to $10 billion. So far, everything is going according to plan. Our cooperation in the transport and logistics sector allows us to achieve our mid-term goals in a short time. The importance of the Caspian is growing. The trilateral meeting in Baku was a success. We hope that the meeting in Aktau will make it possible to advance this work. We duly fulfill our obligations to the world community to ensure global food security. I believe that in this regard, the potential of Kazakhstan rich in wheat can be used,” Erdogan said.

The President of Turkey also stressed that in a period of global and regional instability, it is necessary to strengthen the interaction of the Turkic states, therefore, ensuring security, stability, territorial integrity and improving the economic well-being of Kazakhstan, a brotherly country and a strategic partner of Turkey, is of particular importance.

As a result of the negotiations, in the presence of the heads of state, the members of official delegations signed the following documents: an agreement on cooperation in the field of healthcare; agreement in the field of veterinary medicine and food safety; a memorandum of cooperation in the field of museum work, protection and restoration of monuments; memorandum on cooperation in the field of culture; memorandum of understanding and cooperation in the field of technical regulation, standardization, metrology, accreditation and conformity assessment; Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation on Family Affairs and Social Services of the Republic of Turkey.

“For his great contribution to the strengthening and development of bilateral relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Turkey, Tokayev awarded President Erdogan with the First degree  Order of "Dostyk"  (Friendship).--0--
