EU allocates 2 billion euros to Azerbaijan for the implementation of investment projects

Baku/04.02.22/Turan: Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement of the European Union (EU) Oliver Varheli.

During the meeting, Minister Bayramov stressed that relations between Azerbaijan and the EU are developing on the basis of equal partnership.

According to the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, Bayramov informed the European Commissioner about the current situation in the region, the normalization of relations with Armenia and the delimitation process, as well as the mine threat. He also talked about the ongoing reconstruction and reconstruction work in the region and the possible role of the EU in this.

Commissioner Varheli stressed the importance of partnership with Azerbaijan for the EU and the need to further strengthen these relations. He stressed that Azerbaijan is a reliable partner of the EU. The commissioner said that within the framework of the economic investment plan, a financial package in the amount of 2 billion euros was allocated to Azerbaijan, and the implementation of specific projects is now being considered. Varheli also said that the EU is ready to participate in the recovery and reconstruction process in Azerbaijan.

The parties exchanged views on the implementation of cooperation in the field of regional security, energy partnership, economic ties, transport and communications, sectoral cooperation, as well as in other areas of mutual interest.

At the meeting, the importance of completing negotiations on a new agreement, which will become the legal basis for relations between Azerbaijan and the EU, was mutually expressed.
