EU to increase assistance to Azerbaijan for demining territories
Baku/15.12.22/Turan: The EU is making efforts to turn the South Caucasus into a region of peace and prosperity and, with end in view, it is actively participating in the peace process, the head of the EU mission in Azerbaijan, Ambassador Peter Mikhalko, said at a press conference on Thursday.
Note that meetings of the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia are being held at the initiative of the President of the EU Council Charles Michel and with his participation. Mikhalko expressed hope that this process will lead to peace. "We will work intensively and consistently to achieve results," Mikhalko continued.
At that, he stressed that the EU is one of the active sponsors of the demining process in Azerbaijan. "This is important for the restoration and security of Karabakh. This morning we received information that as a result of a mine explosion in Kalbajar, 8 people were injured, one of them died. We will continue to provide assistance to Azerbaijan in clearing mines and we believe that the volume of this support will increase," Mikhalko concluded. -16C06-
