European diplomats met with Ali Kerimli
Ambassadors of some European countries met with Ali Kerimli, Chairman of the opposition Party of People's Front of Azerbaijan (PPFA), on 12 August.
In particular, British Ambassador Fergus Auld met with Kerimli.
"The meeting discussed the situation around the PPFA, obstacles created against the Party's activities, the PPFA's boycott of the Parliamentary elections, large-scale repressions in the country, Azerbaijani-British relations," Kerimli wrote on Facebook.
Beyond that, Kerimli met with the head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan Peter Michalko and Ambassadors of some EU countries.
According to Kerimli, the meeting with the EU Ambassadors discussed court cases and the criminal case against the PPFA, the fate of political prisoners, including Tofig Yagublu, as well as the social-political situation in the run-up to the Parliamentary elections and Azerbaijan's relations with the EU.
Note that the meeting of European diplomats was held on the eve of the trial against Kerimli on 13 August on the suit of Aydin Aliyev, former head of the PPFA's Control and Revision Commission. He accuses Kerimli of defamation.
The PPFA rejects this accusation.
